Delivery receipts should be signed by the patient or agent to confirm receipt of drugs. Requests for leaving delivered drugs in a mailbox or doorway should only be honoured under extenuating circumstances, with documentation of professional judgment and rationale for the decision. The possible safety risks must be discussed with the patient.
